Sharkbyte is a software development firm based in Ottawa and the USA, and was in the process of redeveloping their website and branding.
Challenge
When Sharkbyte approached me, they were preparing to launch an updated logo and begin work on a new website, but lacked any established branding or guidelines for their new logo. They wanted to refresh their website and materials, and required an experienced designer to establish their creative direction and branding.
Solution
I provided a website design with a brand new look and feel, and a unique illustrative style for the organization to better stand out from their competition and appeal to their customers. Sharkbyte relaunched their new website and branding which was met with very positive feedback.

Art Direction
My process began with talking to the company founder about their brand and services to determine their positioning, their goals, and how best to represent them.
The client shared their new logo (above) and we chatted about ways to refresh their overall visual identity and online presence to better stand out from their competition. Sharkbyte was already working with a copywriter to establish a more personal tone of voice for their online content. Using that as a starting point, I began work on some basic moodboards to help determine guiding principles, illustrative styles, pixels, typography, and overall identity.
Illustration
Illustration work began after our art direction was established. This process began with rough sketches which were discussed over a call.
I wanted the new illustrations to appear modern, professional and clean, but with personality and richness. We wanted to visually incorporate the pixels into the brand and create something that professional but fun.
The website redesign began with reviewing their new content, and reorganizing information in rough wireframes. Once wireframes and content blocking is approved, I moved into the visual design phase.
Results
